This blog is great! I moved to Paris from Melbourne 1 week ago and so far so good but today I was having one of those "feeling sorry for myself" days. Oh and the mute foreign girl! I love that, I know exactly what you are talking about! My in laws are great and are very understanding that my french "ca arrivera" but I was never the mute girl back home and I can't help but assume that they think "oh she's a really boring australian" oh and by the time I have something worthy of conversation in my head it takes me about 5 minutes to conjugate the verb and by then the moment has passed. So there I vent for the day :) I look forward to reading your other posts x

Hi there,
I'm a single girl planning to make the move to Paris next year. I'm scared of feeling lonely and not fitting in. However reading your blog makes me realize that life is meant to be lived. Feeling safe your whole life doesn't achieve anything. Risks are what makes you feel alive! I will take your advice of 'keep it all in perspective'.
Thanks so much x

I share your pain Kristie. I turn into a smiling imbecile which sounds quite similar to your foreign mute girl whenever I am in France and out with my boyfriend. Quite demoralising since I am the extreme opposite back home.

You sound like an absolutely brave lady who is willing to embrace France with open arms so you one step ahead of me and so long as you have the desire, you will fit in. I guess it takes time.

I stumbled upon your blog today and it gives me some comfort there's an Aussie out there going through the same thing as I am. Paris is definitely not Sydney.

Thank you for such a candid account of your adventures.
