Things I dont like about France

  • There are so many minerals in the water that dishes, glasses, sinks are permanently covered in a white streak or crust. Nothing is ever truly “clean”. The kettle is permanently full of floating white papery chunks which is a pretty off-putting thing to pour into a cup of tea or coffee.
  • Dog shit on footpaths. Yep. I trod in my first one while blissfully enjoying a beautiful cobbled street.
  • Americans/English/Irish/Australians who set up American/English/Irish/Australian bars just so they can hang out with their mates, watch baseball/soccer/listen to Irish jigs/sing along to “khe sanh”, drink beer and forget they’re in Paris
  • 15 euro drinks at nightclubs (thats a $30 lemonade, thank you very much, you know where you can stick it while I hold my neck at a bizarre angle in the bathrooms to gulp some water from the tap that has a trickle of water and a timer that shuts off the trickle after 3 seconds)

Agree with 1 and 3… this happens in London as well. We only use the tap water for washing now as it is too disgusting when you drink 3 litres a day!

    Dog shit sucks everywhere!

And my goodness – 15 Euro for a fookin’ lemonade… I wish you were kidding.

So, when we visit it’s no nightclubs for us then!

  • well, we can go to nightclubs, but the trick is to get drunk before you go and drink water out of the taps in the bathroom while you’re there. Very povvo and unsophisticated, but c’est la vie in Paris!

Lol, I thought I was the only one who hated the dogcrap everywhere. Here’s a few from my list:

    – Having to pack your own groceries at the grocery store.
    – Nothing being open early in the morning.
    – The weather.
