First blog post to stop Darryn from writing one pretending to be me

So firstly, many thanks to Darryn for setting up my blog page for me. Who would have thought nerd friends could be useful?

Secondly, many thanks to Lydia for letting Darryn spend time on setting up my blog instead of working on her business website – thank you LDD.

This is a temporary blog style (“theme”) just to get me started, and Darryn is helping to tailor it to something more “Parisien”. Stay tuned……

So why a blog when we already have facebook and email? Dont get me wrong, I’m a big fan of FB, but you know all those cute status quotes we put up? They just seem too transient for me. I want to be able to look back over them in the years to come and remember what it was like. I need an online diary, I guess.

And emails, well, I could send out an update email once a month or so: writing it out, adding all the names, probably forgetting someone. But that wont really capture whats happening with me day to day, and thats something that I think I’d like to share with close family and friends. I could send emails more frequently but geez, if you arent really close to the person, a weekly email can get a bit tedious. With a blog, you can check in as much or as little as you like.

I think the other reason why I want a blog is because I hope it will stave off some of the loneliness (that has already started to hit). Blogging can be my daily chore, something stable and regular.

And of course, I need to make all the Frenchie-lovers (you naughty francophiles, you know who you are) green with envy (maybe the blog theme is quite apt afterall?).

Darryn told me to write 300 words before 10pm Sydney time or else he would write something pretending to be me. Would have been quite funny actually. Maybe I can have him ghost write a blog or two and see if anyone can tell? lol.
